Synth-rich and beat-lush sound overlayed with contralto vocals create a style both atmospheric and catchy. An original spin on electronic music past/present/future.
We are EJMJ, a Seattle-based duo. We grew up together, travelled the world together, and eventually made a home in music together. If you think we look alike, it's because we both take after our mom. Our music draws from the conscious and subconscious. Blues, jazz, 60s pop, 80s synth and contemporary soundscapes. Our sound is electronic pop-ish with experimental edges.
The first time we played music together was in a tent in California. Eric had a ukulele and Merilee knew most of the words to Chim Chimminy. We went on to be inspired to learn songs across several genres and played local open mics. Eric wrote our first song, and although we have since lost the lyrics and the melody we still have the momentum that first step gave us. We are a couple dozen in now and moving forward.
